Bloomington, IN

Indiana University and Bloomington together offer a wide range of activities. As one of America's premiere public universities, IU is home to numerous cultural and educational exhibits. In addition to the nationally recognized IU Art Museum, you'll find the Lilly Library (over seven million manuscripts and rare books), the Mathers Museum of World Culture, the Department of Biology's Jordan Hall Greenhouse, and the Kirkwood Observatory, where the Department of Astronomy hosts stargazing every Wednesday evening.

The city of Bloomington and its surroundings also provide rich cultural opportunities. In addition to the fine exhibits of visual arts downtown at the John Waldron Arts Center, you can experience Indiana's longest running professional summer theater at the Brown County Playhouse, the country's largest collection of modern architecture (45 minutes east in Columbus, IN), and the popular and historic craft and antique shops of Nashville, IN. Bloomington's night life offers something for everybody, with restaurants serving food from all over the world and a generous mix of clubs offering live acoustic and dance music late into the evening.

Outdoor activities include sailing and rowing on IU's Lake Lemon, the university's championship golf course, outdoor and indoor tennis facilities, and hiking, swimming and fishing at Lake Griffy, Lake Monroe, and Brown County State Park.
