Brenda Hillman

Brenda Hillman is the author of six books of poetry, White Dress, Fortress, Death Tractates, Bright Existence, Loose Sugar, and most recently, Cascadia. Her poems are widely anthologized and have appeared in numerous journals aBrenda Hillmannd magazines, including American Poetry Review, Antioch Review, Boston Review, Grand Street, Gulf Coast, Ironwood, The New Yorker, Paris Review, Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner and Slate, among several others. She is a recipient of Guggenheim and NEA fellowships, and was awarded the Pushcart Prize in 1990, among other awards. A graduate of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Hillman is the Poet-in-Residence at Saint Mary's College of California, specializing in modern and contemporary poetry, as well as creative writing.

Brenda Hillman will be teaching a poetry workshop at the 2003 conference.
