Our Mission

The Indiana University Writers' Conference believes in a craft-based teaching of writing. We emphasize an exploration of creativity through a variety of approaches, offering workshop-based craft discussions, classes focusing on technique, and talks about the careers and concerns of a writing life. The IUWC wishes to provide an affordable venue in which serious students of writing have the opportunity to create their own community of artists with the support of an excellent and involved teaching staff. The IUWC promotes, both locally and regionally, a strong commitment to a community of the arts, and supports creative writing in Indiana, the Midwest, and throughout the country.
