The IUWC would like to thank the following businesses and individuals whose generous support helps make the conference possible: Operating sponsors:
The Laughing Planet Café: Serving California-style burritos, quesadillas, and soups, the Laughing Planet is one of Bloomington's most unique restaurants and offers a healthy alternative to fast food for vegetarians and carnivores alike. The decor alone is worth the trip; the restaurant combines local artists' works with relics from the not-so-distant past. The food is made fresh with organic ingredients, and is served with post-consumer recycled materials. Open daily, 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. 322 East Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, 323-2233
Soma Coffee House and Juice Bar: Soma is a terrific place to relax and socialize over a fantastic espresso drink, a coffee beverage or a fabulous fruit or juice smoothie made with fresh produce. They also serve great organic oatmeal cookies and fresh muffins. Open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. until midnight, Saturday 8:00 a.m. until midnight and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. until midnight. 322 East Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington (downstairs from Laughing Planet Café), 331-2770 Scholarship sponsors:
Caveat Emptor sells books for both scholarly and light reading; both used and rare books are bought and sold. Large selection and great bargains. Open Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday noon until 5:00 p.m. 112 North Walnut Street, Bloomington, 332-9995
The Indiana Daily Student is proud to sponsor an IUWC scholarship for an Indiana University undergraduate or graduate student. Established in 1867, the Indiana Daily Student is the premiere news source for IU students and the Bloomington community. Best of all, it is available throughout Bloomington for free! Visit the Indiana Daily Student online at www.idsnews.com.
The IU Bookstore is proud to support the IU Writers' Conference. Located in the IU Memorial Union, we offer three floors of general books, discounted bestsellers, Indiana authors, writing supplies, greeting cards, IU apparel and gifts, and computer accessories. Stop by and visit us after workshop! Open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., 855-4352
The Runcible Spoon is a quiet café where the chatty intellectual set has met for years. In the main floor café you can get pasteries, bagels, muffins and gourmet coffees and espresso drinks for around $2. Breakfast and lunch is served all day, and the Runcible Spoon also offers a fine selection of wines. If the weather is nice you will want to sit on the shady streetside patio. Be sure to check out the bathtub fish tank in the bathroom. Open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m. until midnight. 412 East Sixth Street, Bloomington, 334-3997. Our heartfelt thanks to all of our 2007 scholarship donors
