Fundraising The Fashion Show was not just about having a great time. Drawing a large crowd, the event was also a good opportunity to solicit donations for charitable causes.

We collected clothing donations for the Salvation Army and monetary donations for Relief International's South Asian earthquake relief effort.

Connie Chen and Lisa Ferguson prepared giant posters designed by Janice Lin that implored passers-by to donate to earthquake relief. Yeji Cha, Sibo Lin, Alice Feng, and Aobo Zou worked feverishly before showtime to assemble collection boxes out of discarded cardboard, construction paper, and shoeboxes. Andrew Huang and Kajal Rajpura put their inhibitions aside and approached dozens of audience members individually to ask for donations.

Through these members' efforts and through the generousness of our audience, we raised $208 and a car trunk full of clothing. Thanks to the laborers and the donaters that helped make the fundraiser a success. We appreciate your contribution, but whoever receives help through the Salvation Army or Relief International will appreciate your contribution even more!
