African American Choral Ensemble

Audition Times

Monday August 22, 2016, 2:30-4:00p.m., Neal Marshall Black Cultural Center, Room A201.
*A second audition may be scheduled on Wednesday August 24, 2016, 2:30-4:00p.m. if necessary.

Audition Requirements

Vocalists: Be prepared to sing one prepared piece of your choice with or without an accompanist. Be prepared to learn a group song during your audition to demonstrate your ability to sing harmony vocal parts. Also be prepared to do some vocalizes to demonstrate your vocal range. Instrumentalists must contact Dr. Raymond Wise.

African American Dance Company

Auditions will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016, 7pm
Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, Room A217

Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-6:30pm

Course Credit (2 credits)
A100 OR A338 Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies

Audition Details

  • Short warm-up followed by a dance combination given by the director.
  • Prepared dances are not necessary.
  • Dance specialties will be evaluated at the end of the auditions.
  • No dance experience necessary to audition.

Audition Dress

  • Dance attire.
  • Leotards, tights, jazz shoes or bare feet.
  • Men may wear sweatpants.
  • No street wear, tight pants, or shorts.

IU Soul Revue

Auditions will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016, 7pm
Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, Grand Hall

Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:35-5:35pm

Vocalists are required to attend a weekly vocal sectional rehearsal on Monday evenings. Time will be determined.

Audition Details

Vocalists

  • Prepare one piece that demonstrates your vocal abilities.
  • R&B, Soul, or Gospel style preferred.
  • You will be asked to match pitches and harmonize.

Instrumentalists

  • Be prepared to solo and accompany in a combo setting on R&B or Soul tunes
  • Drums and amplifiers will be provided; others instruments should be brought to the audition
