Philanthropy

Alpha Delta Pi takes seriously every opportunity to share our sense of home with others. We have a personal obligation to help our surrounding community, campus and nation. Since our beginning in 1851, Alpha Delta Pi sisters have committed themselves to service, by helping children with polio in the early twentieth century, volunteering for the Red Cross in World War II, and adopting an international philanthropy – the Ronald McDonald House Charities who provide a safe haven for the families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. Over the years, Alpha Delta Pi has raised over $2.5 million for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and current and alumnae members continue to volunteer for the 164 Ronald McDonald Houses across the country.

The Beta Alpha Chapter, has raised money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in a variety of fundraisers including the annual Mudfest, the Lion Share Challenge, Alphie’s canning buddies, car washes, and our current project: “Pop it for Ronald McDonald.”  The “Pop it for Ronald McDonald” project required the help of many of Indiana University’s campus organizations to collect as many “pop tabs” as they could. The pop tabs collected were then donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

This past year, the Beta Alpha Chapter collected over 15 gallons of pop tabs just by themselves!
The Beta Alpha Chapter also actively participates in other campus philanthropies including the Indiana University Dance Marathon, Relay for Life, Best Buddies, Habitat for Humanity, Students against Drunk Driving, Amethyst House as well as participating in other fraternities’ and sororities’ philanthropies.

This year, the Beta Alpha Chapter adopted a Riley Children’s Hospital Family for the Indiana University Dance Marathon
