The African Studies Program coordinates and supports courses, degree options, and other Africa-related academic activities across the Indiana University campus.
In addition to the Africa-focused courses offered by Program faculty, African Studies affiliates in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the professional schools teach an array of full and partial-Africa content undergraduate and graduate courses. The Interdisciplinary African Studies Seminar (AFRI-A 731) is offered by a different faculty member every semester and allows graduate students and professors to explore new topics.
We encourage students to study abroad in Africa and facilitate opportunities in cooperation with the Overseas Study Office.
We support graduate and undergraduate students who wish to apply for various internal and external grants to conduct research or to study abroad. The Graduate School’s GradGrants Center assists graduate students in all phases of the grants process.
