This is a simple
kabba, or one-piece free-flowing dress. These are typically worn
at home or in the market. These dresses do not restrict movement and therefore
are very functional for performing chores. This particular kabba was purchased
at Mokolo Market in Yaound6 and I wore it for the majority of the six-week
stay in Cameroon.
The material is from the bordering country of Nigeria. Cloth is also produced
in Cameroon at the CT-CAM factory. Cotton is the material of choice. It
remains cool and absorbent in the heat, will dry very quickly after a
downpour, is easy to wash by hand and doesn't need ironing..
