Adou Gori is wearing
traditional Muslim dress commonly worn in the northern part of Cameroon.
The under-outfit is similar to those in the previous two slides. The top
garment is called a gandura. It is a very large rectangle that is folded,
embellished with embroidery.
The gandura hangs gracefully, due in part to the bottom corner edges of the garment being sewn together. The part of the gandura which falls to the wrists is often thrown onto the shoulders, creating yet another beautiful wave of fabric.
