The Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies, formerly named Afro-American Studies, has graduated undergraduate majors since its beginnings as a program in the IU College of Arts and Sciences in 1970. Since 1999, when the department began its master of arts program, it has graduated several cohorts of MA students. Undergraduate and graduate alumni have gone on to enter higher degree programs, join faculty ranks, and undertake a wide variety of positions in business, industry, and the arts. We are proud of our alumni and their accomplishments—at Indiana University, at other institutions, and in the “real world.” We want to stay in contact with alumni and hope that these pages will give alumni an easy way to stay in contact with AAADS, their home department at IU.
