Miron Iakubovitch Endelstein was born in 1925 in Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy (formerly Akerman, Bessarabia). He spoke extensively about his service in the Red Army during the war. He used the name Mironov, so that people wouldn't know he was Jewish.
