The AIS UK
The AISSG-USA was founded in 1995. However, considerable pioneering work in creating a network of support was done by a group of dedicated women in the United Kingdom. Their web site remains the largest repository of information on Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. They have a new web site address as of spring 2007, the new site is located at:
www.aissg.org
ISNA
The Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) is devoted to systemic change to end shame, secrecy, and unwanted genital surgeries for people born with an anatomy that someone decided is not standard for male or female.

Links to knowledgeable medical staff
In addition to the above organizations, the AISSG-USA Board Members have access to a medical advisory board that we can refer more complicated questions to for answers or links to others who can help.
One of our strongest allies in the medical arena, has been Dr. Charmian Quigley who has been with us since the forma tion of the AISSG-USA back in 1995. Dr. Quigley (shown at right) donates considerable time and resources to our group and each summer at the annual meeting leads a number of sessions that help us learn of the latest information on AIS and similar syndromes.
If you have a question for Dr. Quigley, you can post it via the parent’s support group e-mail circle that she is a part of already, or you may write the AIS board at:
E-mail: aissgusa AT hotmail DOT com
and we will forward it to her.

Several of our members say the old 1990 Cos-mo article, titled: The Missing Vagina by Noreen Nash Siegel, was helpful in their journey to understanding. It was published in the USA edition July 1990, Vol 209, pp 74-77) and gives the early history of awareness of congenital absence of the vagina and its treatment together with two women’s stories.
Our own orchid, Tammy Harwell was featured in the April 2000 issue of Cos-mo in a piece entitled: Was I meant to be a man?
