Graduate Studies

The American Indian Studies Research Institute is an interdisciplinary research center within Indiana University. As such, the Institute is not a degree-granting entity. Instead, students apply for graduate admission in the department of their choosing.

Once accepted for graduate study in that department, the student develops an academic relationship with the Institute. The Institute has traditionally worked with faculty and students from the departments of anthropology, linguisitics, history, and folklore. Courses focusing on Native American topics are also offered through the English department, the Law School, and the School of Education.

Please fill out the form below to request an application for graduate school from one of the departments associated with AISRI. Departments at Indiana University most closely associated with AISRI include: to the Anthropology Department, Linguistics Department, and Folklore Department. In addition to these departments, the English, History, and Law departments periodically offer courses on Indian topics. Please note: this is NOT an application for admittance.
