ATP Quick Start Guide

 

Mandatory steps are in bold; steps that will only be necessary when changing configuration (as from a project in one language to another) are in italics.

 

1.  Open ATP

                Click on the ATP icon in Windows' Start menu; or double-click on the ATP icon on the Desktop.

 

2.  Open a Project Model, unless you're using the same one as the last time ATP was used.

                a.  Click on "Project Model" > "Open Model" on the menu bar at the top of the screen.

                b.  Select the model in the "ModelsAndStyles" directory, then click "Open."

                c.  Click on the "Activate Model" button.

 

3.  Open a Keyboard, unless you're using the same one as the last time ATP was used.

                a.  Click on "Orthography" > "Keyboards" in the menu bar.

                b.  To edit the current Keyboard proceed directly to step 4.

                c.  Click on the "Change Keyboard" button.

                d.  Select the keyboard in the "Orthography" directory, then click "Open."

                e.  Click on the "DONE" button to close the window.

 

4.  Open a Sort Order, unless you're using the same one as the last time ATP was used.

                a.  Click on "Orthography" > "Sort Orders" in the menu bar.

                b.  Click on the "Change or Create Template" button.

                c.  Select the sort order in the "Orthography" directory, then click "Open."

                d.  Click on the "DONE" button to close the window.

 

5.  Open and configure an Annotator if you wish to use its functionality.

                a.  Click on "Annotator" > "Open Annotator" in the menu bar.

                b.  Select the annotator in the "Annotators" directory, then click "Open."

                c.  Click on "Annotator" > "Annotator" in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

                d.  In the "Auto Annotator Settings" box at the upper right corner of the "Annotation Viewer" window click on the non-gray boxes next to the elements you wish to have the program automatically annotate.

                e.  In the "Multiple Automatic Annotations"  select the action you wish the annotator to take if multiple annotations are found for the same referrent:

                                1.  "Making no insertion":  Do not insert any annotation if there is ambiguity.

                                2.  "Noting number of choices (@#n)": Insert a string indicating the number of potential annotations for that referrent.

                                3.  "Inserting last item used":  Insert the most recently saved annotation for that referrent by default.  This last option can save quite a bit of time, but requires extra careful proof-reading.

                f.  Click on "Hide Annotator" to close the "Annotator Viewer" window and return to the editor.

 

6.  Open a document (an "ATP dbf  file") and begin editing.

                a.  Click on "File" > "Open ATP dbf file" on the menu bar.

                b.  Select the document in the "Texts" directory, then click "Open."
