The
Annotated Text Processor (ATP)

ATP's annotator viewer provides
immediate access to annotator tables and their configuration.
All annotated words are organized with their glosses,
parses, and annotations as target and annotation in
a single record in the annotator table—multiple
annotations are stored in multiple records.
The annotator viewer switches indexes
and provides different listings of the annotator contents
at the click of a button. The user may edit, add, or
delete annotator entries directly in this interface.
The basic principle of organization
is simple but ATP's annotator is implemented with a
powerful set of indexing and filtering tools that make
it relatively easy to support many different kinds of
search algorithms—inside and outside of ATP. ATP's
design supports many different standard relational-database
formats via ODBC-SQL although AISRI uses Visual FoxPro
tables in-house to maintain easy compatibility with
our IDD application. (In fact ATP's ODBC-SQL user interface
is still under construction but we can hard-wire database
connections at will. The ODBC-SQL interface is slated
for completion during the Winter semester, 2002.)
