John W. Brown

Dr. Brown received a B.A. in 1967 and a M.D. in 1970 from Indiana University. He was appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery, Section of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1978, after completing his cardiothoracic surgical residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. Brown was appointed Associate Professor of Surgery in 1983 and Professor of Surgery in 1988; in 1990 was appointed Director, Section of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is also Director of the Riley Children's Hospital Cardiac Transplant Program.

Dr. Brown is a member of numerous professional societies including the Andrew G. Morrow Society, John Alexander Surgical Society, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Group, American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Association for Academic Surgery, American College of Chest Physicians (Fellow), National Pediatric Cardiology Study Group, and the American College of Surgeons (Fellow).

Honors accorded to Dr. Brown include Phi Beta Kappa, 1967; K.K. Chin Award, 1968; Phizer Scholarship, 1968-69; Alpha Omega Alpha, 1969; John B. Hickam Award, 1970; and the Frederick C. Coller Award, 1976.
