Kenneth D. Crews

Samuel R. Rosen II Professor of Law

Professor Crews joined the faculty of IUPUI in 1994 specifically to impart his copyright law expertise in teaching and research, and to establish the Copyright Management Center (CMC). He is a Professor in the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, with a joint appointment in the IU School of Library and Information Science. Crews is director of the CMC and serves as Associate Dean of the Faculties for Copyright Management. The CMC is an initiative to address the increasingly complex issues of copyright as they related to teaching, research, and service at the university. The office was the first of its kind in the country, and it has proven to have profound national and international influence on copyright policymaking and management. he has published extensively on the relationship of copyright law to the needs of higher education.

He spent his sabbatical year, 2000-2001, at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany; he now serves as a faculty member for the advanced law degree program with the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center. During 2003, he was the Intellectual Property Scholar for the Center for Intellectual Property and Copyright in the Digital Environment, University of Maryland University College. Beginning in January 2008, Professor Crews has been on a leave of absence and is currently at Columbia University in New York City.
