The Program in Ancient Studies hosted its first conference: "Miniature and Minor" April 11-12, 2014.

The Chronicle of Higher Education:2007 Top Research Universities Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index ranks Indiana University Ancient Studies Program second in the nation.

The Program in Ancient Studies offers a Ph.D. Minor to help students develop an interdisciplinary approach to the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. The program draws on the faculty of sixteen (16) departments and programs: Anthropology, Central Eurasian Studies, Classical Studies, Comparative Literature, Folklore and Ethnomusicology, Geological Sciences, History, History and Philosophy of Science, History of Art, Informatics, Jewish Studies, Musicology, Near Eastern Languages and Cultures (including Egyptology), Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Sponsored campus events include a Distinguished Lecturer Series and a Colloquia Series.
