Funding Opportunities

The following funding opportunities are available to CISAB members only. IU faculty, students, teachers, postdoctoral associates and technicians may apply for CISAB membership by filling out the online form.

All requests for funding should include the names and email addresses of two CISAB faculty who have agreed to sponsor your request.

For Graduate Students

CISAB & CTRD Graduate Scholars

Current PhD students and postdocs can apply for up to 12 months of stipend support. Applications are due by February 15th.

Hanna Kolodziejski Fellowship

The Hanna Kolodziejski Fellowship is an annual award for a Biology or CISAB graduate student who shows academic talent in both research and teaching and who demonstrates a commitment to the community through service or outreach programs.

To nominate someone for this year's award, faculty should send a letter to cisab@indiana.edu no later than February 10th.

Rowland Mentoring Award

The Rowland Mentoring Award recognizes Indiana University graduate students whose outstanding mentoring of undergraduates reflects the example set by CISAB founding member William J. Rowland.

To nominate someone for this year's award, faculty should send a letter to cisab@indiana.edu no later than February 10th.

Student/Postdoc Travel Awards

CISAB may award up to $400 to a student to present at a national or international meeting.

Distinguished Guest Speakers

To apply for funds to help bring a distinguished guest speaker to our campus, please send an email to cisab@indiana.edu describing the details and providing the names of at least two CISAB faculty who have agreed to sponsor the request. Requests for both partial and full funding of individual speakers will be considered at any time of the year. Requests for groups of speakers (e.g., a mini-symposium or A501 course) will be solicited twice yearly (in summer and late fall).

For Undergraduates

Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates

REU is a 10-week summer program in which students from across the country partner with mentors at IU to conduct animal behavior research.

Charles H. Turner Program for Undergraduates

This program offers travel funding to participate in a workshop and mentorship program at the annual meeting of the Animal Behavior Society.
