The Center is located in a pleasent three-story brick house halfway between the biology and psychology buildings (402 N. Park Ave.). The house contains a large seminar room, space for administrative and computer support staff, research-related computer and video equipment, and office space for program graduate and postdoctoral members. The house serves as a focal point for interactions among students, faculty and visiting researchers

Seminar Room and Office Equipment

The CISAB building offers a seminar room that can be reserved by CISAB members for special events such as talks and committee meetings. FAX and photocopy machines are also available for CISAB members use (with IU long distance telephone account and copy card, respectively)

CISAB's William J. Rowland Resource Room

The resource room contains over 40 journals including Animal Behavior and Memory & Cognition. The room also houses a collection of animal behavior texts donated by Bill Rowland's family and Bill Timberlake as well as computer facilities. The room was created in memory of Bill Rowland, beloved biology professor, mentor, teacher, colleague and friend who died unexpectedly from a heart attack in 2004 while conducting research in Sweden. Bill taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in biology and served on many campus wide committees. As well as being a founding member of CISAB, Bill had been director of the REU program (1995-2004), helped over 20 graduate students earn their doctoral degrees and was an enthusiastic researcher.

Office/Desk Space

Several quiet alcoves and offices are available in the CISAB house as temporary office space for postdoctoral associates, visiting scholars, and graduate students writing their dissertations. Special requests for a personal computer to be reserved for individual members who have obtained desk space at the CISAB building will also be considered.

Computer Lab

Several PC and Macintosh computers (up to date software) are located at the main CISAB building and are available for shared use by our members. These computers are all connected to the IU general networking system and can be accessed with and IU network ID. Several specialized bits of computers hardware and software are also available in the main Center building, including scanners, video and image processing equipment, sound analysis equipment, a slide-maker, and computer projector.

Equipment

CISAB has several pieces of state-of-the-art equipment that are available for short and long-term loans. These include laptops and handheld computers, audio and videotape recorders, transponder systems (for tagging and tracking animals in the wild), and spectrophotometers.
