| David J. White Affiliated Postdoc Department of Psychology
Ph.D. McMaster University 1999 (Psychology)
My research interests include social learning, mate choice and sexual selection. My past research investigated how male and female Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) use social information to modify their immediate mate choice decisions. Currently I am investigating how the social environment can influence the development of mate preferences, courtship competence and communication in brown-headed cowbirds (Molothrus ater).

Ph.D. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 1990
Modeling behavior; communication |
| John P. Roche Assistant Director, Insect Initiative Department of Biology, Boston College
Ph.D. University of Maine-Orono 1995
Vector biology, foraging ecology, science communication and education, public health communication and education, cost/benefit analysis.

| Joseph M. Casto Research Associate Department of Biology
Johns Hopkins University
My current research in the Ketterson / Nolan lab investigates some of the potential costs and benefits associated with elevated levels of circulating testosterone in male dark-eyed juncos (Junco hyemalis). One line of research investigates influences of elevated testosterone on humoral- and cell-mediated immune function in free-living male juncos. A second line of research assesses possible changes in the reproductive physiology of female juncos (e.g., gonadal hormone levels and investment in eggs) that may result from interacting with male juncos that have artificially elevated levels of circulating testosterone. |MORE INFO| |
| Maria I. Sandell Affiliated Postdoc Department of Biology
Ph.D. 1998 Lund University, Sweden (Animal Ecology)
I am interested in the expression and evolution of female reproductive behaviour in birds. In my current research I study the influence of androgens on female social behaviour and reproduction. I also study how maternal effects, mediated through deposition of egg steroids, are optimised in response to
environmental conditions. Study species: Red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus), Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus)
