The Biology of Traditions: Models and Evidence

Guest Lecture for Fall 2001 Graduate Seminar:   Social Learning, Social Intelligence, and Social Brains

ABSTRACT: I critique notions guiding much of the recent work on traditions and social learning in nonhuman animals, commenting on logical and interpretive problems. I suggest an alternative framework to guide empirical (field and experimental) studies of social learning.
