Module 25: The Kennewick Man and the Reburial Debate

Reading: Meighan, “The Burial of American Archaeology”

I have students watch the video, then vote on the reburial of Kennewick Man: Yes, No, or some Middle Ground [usually, study the remains scientifically, then rebury them]. I ask students to explain their choices. Usually, I have to play devil’s advocate for the position that the bones should be reburied, because even after reading Skull Wars, my students are not sympathetic to reburial.
