Course Goals
Demonstrate an understanding of the roles, skills, and training requirements
of museum professionals;
Identify and apply a range of techniques, tools, and materials used in
museum work;
Discuss critically current issues in museum exhibition, education, conservation,
collections management, marketing, development, visitor evaluation,
and administration;
Locate and utilize the basic literature of museum methods, professional
museum organizations, and museum reference sources including on-line
resources;
Research, develop, design, fabricate, and install a small exhibit, working
in collaboration with other members of the class and with representatives
of the institutions mounting the exhibit.
