	Principle 7: Real World Problem Solving - how archaeological techniques can be applied directly 
	     in matters of  public policy

		Discussion - Discussed Puleston's concept of "applied archaeology" (the first time I had heard 
		the expression!) - How can we use archaeological technique to learn from the experiences of 
		peoples in the past things and strategies that will be of direct benefit to present-day peoples? In 
		particular, this discussion relates how Puleston's work on raised-field systems as viable, renewable 
		systems of food production for peoples in tropical wetland ecosystems.
