M333 Attendance Policy Classes are scheduled once a week for two hours at a time. Attendance and promptness are mandatory for all classes. Lateness and poor attendance are unacceptable and will be reflected in your grade. In accordance with new University Policy, if you accumulate 3 absence units, for any reason, you will receive a grade of "FN" for the course (Failure for Non-Attendance). An absence unit is one hour of missed class time, or three late arrivals. An excused absence (verified personal illness or death in the family) will count as one/half of an absence unit. Written verification of an excused absence must be accepted by the instructor within one week of the absence. Unexcused absences will count as one absence unit. At your discretion you may elect to withdraw from the course at any time by following University guidelines for course withdrawal. You are required to call the departmental secretary at 856-8120, or your instructor if you will be unable to attend class or if you anticipate being late. You are expected to bring a written excuse if you are unable to attend class for reasons of illness, death in the family, or another emergency.
