The grant application process takes a long time. With that in mind, I've established a timetable of grant application deadlines, with this guideline: you should begin work on your proposal, budget, and support materials 1 month to 6 weeks before the deadline. By at least 3 weeks to 1 month before the deadline you should have shown your draft proposal to your recommenders and asked for feedback and recommendations.
