Posted: Tuesday, April 17, 2012
The College Alumni Board is excited to announce that our board member, Steve Sanders, is the recipient of the Department of Political Science’s Distinguished Alumni Award for 2012!
Political Science Department Chair, Russ Hanson, states:
“This award is given each year to an alumnus or alumna of the Department whose life’s work is an inspiration to us all, and a reminder of the many different ways in which a degree in political science from Indiana University can be used to serve the public interest. … We are extremely proud of (Steve’s) accomplishments as a defender of civil rights, an educator at the University of Chicago Law School and University of Michigan Law School, your scholarly research on the politics of family law and same-sex marriage, and your widely noted commentary on the law as it bears on contemporary political issues. We are also cognizant of your unstinting service to Indiana University and the College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board. Our university is fortunate to have such a strong friend, and our department is particularly pleased to honor a public intellectual who shares our love for the life of the mind.”
Congratulations, Steve! We are fortunate to have your support.
