Blake Barker wins dissertation fellowship

The IUB College of Arts and Sciences has awarded Blake Barker a prestigious COAS Dissertation year fellowship, which enables him to focus full time on his dissertation writing and research. He was awarded the COAS fellowship for, among other things, his groundbreaking work on numerical proof of stability of periodic roll waves in thin film flow. Other achievements include more than 10 co-authored papers in journals like Communications in Math, Physics, Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, and Physica D. Barker was instrumental in the co-development and documentation of the Matlab based STABLAB, a systematic code for numerical stability analysis by location of spectra of ordinary differential operators.
