Research

We are analytical chemists who make measurements and build structures related to biology and materials science.  Most of the projects we undertake also require us to operate in the nanoscale regime.

Current efforts are related to nanoporous materials and scanned probe platforms. Below are two examples from our recent work.

Measuring Ion Currents with SICM

We are investigating methods, tools and techniques to measure ion currents at small scales (magnitude and spatial). Ultimately, this work will develop new techniques to quantify the nanoscale transport properties of biological systems or materials systems, such as membranes in fuel cells.
