Message from The Colonel
Director of Athletic Bands - David C. Woodley
Our 3-0 Hoosiers return to the gridiron this Saturday as we welcome the team AND band from the University of Illinois!
We have not had the opportunity recently to see the Marching Illini, so this weekend will be a special treat.
Both bands will be performing at pre-game, half-time and post-game.
The Marching Illini has always been a great marching and musical band, and I'm certain this year will be no different.
At half-time, the Marching Hundred will be featuring music by the group Chicago.
The show was written and designed by 2nd year Master's Candidate, Polly Middleton.
The band has been working very hard this week for Polly, and we're all pleased with the result.
This is also a special weekend for Polly, as she holds her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois!
I know Polly will be cheering for IU, but we might catch her silently singing the words to all of the Illinois school songs!
Next weekend will be our first weekend off in quite a while.
I hope our students will have the opportunity to take a break from school and enjoy the weekend.
We hope to see you at the game this Saturday!
A Tradition of Excellence: Marching Hundred Video Archive
Last week we featured footage of the Marching Hundred on the field in 1937.
This week, we take a closer look at the Marching Hundred with behind-the-scenes silent black and white footage from the Hundred's trip to Ohio State University in 1951!
In celebration of the 2007 Sudler award, this season's Marching Hundred video podcast series feature historical videos from the archive.
Get the Marching Hundred Podcast on iTunes or watch the video online.
