Message from The Colonel
Director of Athletic Bands - David C. Woodley

The IU Hoosiers return to The Rock sporting a 4-1 record. The Golden Gophers of Minnesota stand between IU and the most wins we've seen in a season in a while!

This week's show was designed by Associate Director Paul Popiel. We feature the music of the rock group Styx - Lady, Lorelei, Mr. Roboto, Blue Collar Man, and Too Much Time On My Hands are a few of the selections we'll be playing this weekend. Kickoff is set for noon at Memorial Stadium. Sudler Trophy

There is still time to join us Homecoming weekend for the Sudler Trophy Banquet at 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, Indiana Memorial Union. Use the online registration form to sign up for this unique event!

Register for the Sudler Trophy Banquet

You do NOT need to be a former member of the Hundred - we welcome all guests and fans! Also, you do not need to participate in Homecoming activities that day in order to attend.

Let's cheer on our Hoosiers this weekend - one game closer to that elusive bowl game!

Get to Know the Department of Bands

Pratt How much do you know about the Department of Bands? Study up on each of the directors and associate instructors online and say hello at the game!

Meet the Department!

The Indiana University Department of Bands traces its history back to the founding of the Marching Hundred in 1896 (although official University records indicate a start-up fee in 1832 for a "university band"). The Department of Bands is represented by: three music-major Concert Ensembles (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band), various small ensembles (taken from the above groups), the All-Campus Band (a non-major band meeting once a week on Monday night), The Marching Hundred, The Big Red Basketball Band and the Crabb Pep Bands (men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball and women's basketball). The IU Summer Music Clinics are also housed in the Department.

A Tradition of Excellence: Marching Hundred Video Archive

By special request from Hundred alum, Philip Doty, this week we will watch pre-game and halftime footage from IU vs. Purdue, November 19, 1955! Though lacking sound, the video gives plenty of great views of the 10th Street stadium and the Marching Hundred's innovative marching. Also keep an eye on the card section!

In celebration of the 2007 Sudler award, this season's Marching Hundred video podcast series features historical videos from the archive.
