Message from The Colonel
Director of Athletic Bands - David C. Woodley
Greetings from Band Camp '08!!
We are back in B'town and are hard at work preparing for our first football game of the 2008 season!
We don't necessarily like the timing of the first game, since it only gives us 3 days as a full band to prepare.
But, with lots of spirit, talented rookies and vets, we'll be ready for Saturday, August 30 as our Hoosiers take on the Hilltoppers from Western Kentucky.
Fresh off our 2007 Bowl season AND the Sudler Trophy, this year's Hundred has grown to over 270 members!
We see increases in almost every section and can't wait to hear the band at The Rock this Saturday.
Our pre-game concert - The Walk to the Rock - has moved locations. We'll be on the upper drive on the West side of Assembly Hall, beginning 2 hours and 20 minutes before kick each week.
We'll play our normal assortment of fun music before the team arrives, and will serenade them with our traditional pre-game favorites as they make their way down the West steps of Assembly Hall.
Our first halftime show will be music of Bon Jovi - "Runaway" as our RedStepper feature, and "Livin' on a Prayer" as our drill number.
We wish each of you a great start to the 2008 fall season, and hope to see you out at The Rock this fall!!
Hundred Alum David Neville wins GOLD and BRONZE at the 2008 Beijing Olympics!
David Neville was a two-year Hundred member on snare drum and this year he won the Bronze medal in the 400m on August 21.
Did you see him dive for the medal to make it a USA sweep?
On Saturday, August 23, David ran the 3rd leg of the 4x400 meter relay and ended up with not only a Gold medal, but an Olympic record at the same time!
Although we can't confirm it, we assume David can now be called "The Fastest Snare Drummer in the World".
He's so fast, he could have finished both races with a snare drum on!
We congratulate David on his accomplishments and wish him the best as he continues his training!

If you didn't, read it online!
In the August 25, 2008 issue of Newsweek, the Marching Hundred was the main picture in the story, "The Top Twelve Rivalries."
Indiana vs. Purdue is recognized across the country as one of the great college rivalries of all time.
Marching Hundred Performing at two NFL Games in 2008
The IU Marching Hundred has been invited for the 4th year in a row to perform at an Indianapolis Colts home football game.
This year holds special interest as the Hundred will become the first college band to officially perform at an NFL game in the new Lucas Oil Stadium!
The game will be September 7, 2008 vs. the Chicago Bears. Game time is set for 8:15 p.m. Indianapolis time.
In addition to the Colts game on Sept. 7, the Hundred will be the featured halftime group for The Chicago Bears when they take on the Minnesota Vikings in Chicago on Sunday, October 19, 2008.
