Message from The Colonel
Director of Athletic Bands - David C. Woodley
Greetings from Bloomington!
It's hard to believe, but our first home football game is tonight!
IU takes on Eastern Kentucky University tonight, Sept. 3, with kickoff set for 8:00 p.m.
The Marching Hundred has had a great band camp week, and now three good days of rehearsals leading up to the Thursday game. Nearly 1/2 of our band are rookies, so we've been putting in as much work as possible, trying to teach them the traditions that are part of game day here at The Rock.
Our first halftime show is a musical spoof of "Boy Bands"! We start with a RedStepper feature - "Good Vibrations" from the Beach Boys, then end our show with a medley of more current Boy Band hits - "Hangin' Tough", "MMMBop", "Bye Bye Bye" and "I Want It That Way." As a special added feature, the Hundred will incorporate dance steps in the middle of "Bye Bye Bye" - something you should NOT miss!
As in past years, the Hundred will perform at The Walk - two hours and twenty minutes prior to kick off. Please join us on the West steps of Assembly Hall for this mini concert/pep rally.
I hope you'll be able to make it to a home game at The Rock very soon. We look forward to seeing all of you again this season - thanks for your continued support of the IU Marching Hundred!!
