David C. Woodley
Director of Athletic Bands/Director of the Marching Hundred
David C. Woodley was appointed to the School of Music faculty in 1993. His duties include directing the 250-member Marching Hundred, the 100-member Big Red Basketball Band, and the Concert Band. He also teaches Arranging and Marching Band Techniques in the School of Music. Prior to his appointment at IU, Mr. Woodley served as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of the Hawkeye Marching Band at The University of Iowa in Iowa City and held a similar position at The University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Woodley has been commissioned by over 100 high school and college bands, and has over 400 athletic band arrangements to his credit. Many of his arrangements have been custom-designed for competition-style bands who compete at the regional and national level. He also served as the founder and National Co-Chairman of the College Band Directors National Association Athletic Advisory Council. Mr. Woodley received a "Student Choice Award for Outstanding Faculty" in the spring of 2000. Mr. Woodley received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The University of Iowa.
Paul Popiel
Associate Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Director of Bands
Paul Popiel was appointed to the Jacobs School of Music faculty in 2006. He assists with all aspects of the IU Athletic Band program, and teaches conducting and Wind Band History in the Jacobs School. Prior to his appointment at IU, Dr. Popiel served as Director of Athletic Bands at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dr. Popiel received his Doctoral Degree in Wind Conducting from Michigan State University, his Master's Degree from the University of Notre Dame and his Bachelor's Degree from Truman State University.

John Gilbert
Director of Public Relations
John Gilbert is in his fifth year as Director of Public Relations
for the Marching Hundred. A former trombone player and Drum major
with the University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band, John is in charge
of Hundred photography and other duties associated with Hundred media.
Janis Cooper Parker
RedStepper Choreographer
Janis Cooper Parker was appointed as RedStepper Choreographer in 1996.
A graduate of Indiana University in Music and Ballet, Janis has been
serving as the Alumni RedStepper Choreopgrapher for several years.
Janis, a former RedStepper member and Captain, is active as a dance
teacher, guest speaker, and volunteer for many of the Indiana University
Foundation student groups.
Joel Brainard
Drumline Instructor
Joel Brainard is in his sixth season as arranger and sole instructor for the
Marching Hundred Drumline. Graduating with a Music Education degree from IU,
Joel was a former four year member of the IU drumline. He served as
Head/Arranger of the Bloomington High School North Marching band. Joel has recently
finished his Masters in Jazz Studies at IU, and teaches music at Batchelor Middle School in Bloomington.

Cody Gaither
Videographer
Cody Gaither is in his eighth year as Hundred Videographer. A graduate of Indiana
University, Cody marched sousaphone in the Hundred for five years.
Rachel Caswell
Administrative Assistant
Rachel Caswell is an award-winning jazz vocalist with a unique style combining extraordinary scatting ability and sensitive song interpretation. She has performed with the Billy Taylor Trio and Curtis Fuller and was selected as one of two vocalists for the 1997 Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Colony at Jazz Aspen/Snowmass.
