ScriptTease: Expose Yourself
BCEC unites IU campus in unprecedented film production endeavor
Over the course of the next year, the Business Careers in Entertainment Club (BCEC) is producing a full length feature film. This is a monumental undertaking, especially for a student organization, as a full-fledged film production takes a significant amount of time and a lot of creative manpower. What makes this project so amazing is that the BCEC is involving students from many different departments and schools on campus – for example, we’re looking to engage composers and musicians from the Jacobs School of Music, marketing talent from the Kelley School of Business, actors and makeup artists from the Department of Theatre and Drama, directors from the Department of Communications and Culture, technicians and crew members from the Department of Telecommunications, and many more. We also plan to utilize the BCEC’s vast catalog of entertainment industry professionals in various aspects of the production.
Combining the efforts of all these different students for the united goal of a feature length film production is unprecedented, and the BCEC is incredibly proud to unite the campus in such a manner.
The production is starting from absolute scratch, and the BCEC is running a screenplay contest, called ScriptTease: Expose Yourself, to find a script to adapt for the project. The contest is titled ScriptTease because the winning screenwriter will receive an unbelievable amount of exposure – not only does the screenwriter have the ability to say that he or she won the contest, but his or her work was adapted into a real film - this is far, far more than most screenwriters can say coming out of college. The winning screenwriter will also receive a cash prize of at least $250, funded from the $15 submission fees. The contest deadline is December 11, 2006.
The winning screenplay will be announced at the beginning of the spring semester, and then pre-production work will begin. The BCEC will be holding casting auditions, as well as filling all crew roles for the production, which will be filmed at the beginning of the summer in and around Bloomington and the State of Indiana. Post-production work will quickly follow the completion of the film’s photography, and by November of 2007, the BCEC will be unveiling its completed film at a public screening, as well as announcing the film’s distribution plans.
