
Dr. Jaime Awe, Director

Dr. Awe holds Belizean and Canadian citizenship, has 22 years of field experience in Maya archaeology, has served as Commissioner of Archaeology and Chief Archaeologist for the Government of Belize, and has taught at Universities in Canada, England, and the United States. He is presently director of the Western Belize Regional Cave Project (WBRCP) and of the Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance Project (BVAR). Prior to directing BVAR, Dr. Awe conducted research at Caracol, Caledonia, Pacbitun, Cahal Pech, and the Valley of Peace. He now devotes his time in the field investigating Baking Pot and several caves in western Belize.
