There is a wide variety of housing choices in Bloomington. House prices in the area are low enough for many graduate students to buy their own homes. There are also many attractive apartments, including a large number that have been built in the past few years, within walking distance of the campus or convenient to university and city bus routes.
Although most graduate students live off-campus, Indiana University also offers a variety of on-campus housing options. Special consideration has been given to on-campus housing for undergraduates, graduates, and postdoctoral fellows. For single graduate men and women, a modern residence hall unit has been reserved in Ashton Center. Graduate student accommodations are also available in air-conditioned Carl H. Eigenmann Hall.
Several types of University apartments are available to married students. Included are efficiency and one- and two-bedroom units, both furnished and unfurnished. In addition, some unfurnished three-bedroom units are also available. Rents include all utilities except telephone. Applications for on-campus housing are processed by:

University housing applications should be submitted well in advance of enrollment. Students who wish to live off-campus are also advised to arrange for suitable housing several months before moving to Bloomington.
