Eigenmann recipient Radhika Agarwal is earning a double major in Biochemistry and Biology. Her research mentor is Clyde Culbertson Professor of Biology Yves Brun. In the Brun lab, Radhika conducts research on the stimulation of holdfast synthesis by surface contact. She was one of 283 students selected nationwide to receive a 2014 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Radhika earned a highly competitive 2011 Herman B Wells Scholarship from Indiana University. She is a member of the Hutton Honors College and participated in IU’s Integrated Freshman Learning Experience (IFLE) and the IU Science Technology, and Research Scholars Program, known as IU-STARS.

Radhika spent the 2013-14 academic year participating in an overseas study abroad program in biochemistry at the University of Oxford. There she continued the research she began in the Brun lab, working with Oxford’s Judith Armitage, in the Department of Biochemistry, and Richard Berry, in the Department of Physics.
