BloomingSongs gives Bloomington area families access to local musicians and their music:contemporary classical, jazz, electronica, Middle Eastern, bluegrass, choral music, and Brazilian choros. Kids of all ages can learn the basics behind improvisation, dynamics, musical forms, tempos, articulations, and various movements. The BloomingSongs project has also offered interactive concerts to area schools, and provided teacher-training workshops. This project is made possible by The Smithville Grant Foundation, Bloomington Urban Enterprise Zone Grant, area music teachers and early childhood specialists, Monroe County Public Library, Monroe County Community Foundation, Ivy Tech John Waldron Fine Arts Center, Russian Recording, Reimagining Opera for Kids, B-Town Jazz, BloomingSongs composers and musicians, IU Jacobs' PreCollege Program, IU Children's Choir, Boys and Girls Club and the IU African American Choral Ensemble.
