Shay Dawson M.A., CTRS is the Director of Therapeutic Recreation at Bradford Woods. He has a master’s degree in therapeutic recreation from Kent State University and is a certified therapeutic recreation specialist through NCTRC. Shay has served in various leadership roles for individuals with disabilities such as the supervisor of a therapy team in a hospital setting that served both children and adults, director of a respite program for youth with specific needs, a wilderness guide at Summer’s Best Two Weeks Camp, past board member for Cool Springs Retreat, and as a research and habilitation assistant at The Hattie Larlham Foundation for Children with Severe and Profound Disabilities. Shay currently works and lives at Bradford Woods. In this capacity, he is the summer camp director for Camp Riley and other specialty camps for individuals with disabilities, lead facilitator for therapeutic outdoor programs, and as an adjunct instructor in therapeutic recreation at Indiana University (Bloomington Campus) in which he teaches R379: Clinical Practice in Therapeutic Recreation.
