Materials:

  1. Blank map(s) of the United States
  2. Colored pencils, crayons, or markers

What To Do:

  1. Look in nature books to find out the range of some of the different trees eagles prefer to live in.  To review, they are:  Oak, Hemlock, Poplar, Elm, Sycamore, and Lodgepole Pine trees.
  2. Shade in the area(s) in which these trees grow.
  3. Determine which areas on your map would be the most favorable for an eagle to live in.  For example, identify bodies of water that would attract eagles and large towns/cities that an eagle would avoid.
  4. Discuss what other factors may influence where Bald Eagles nest.
