The Problem

According to the Rubber Manufacturer's Association, each American produces 1 waste tire per year. In Indiana this amounts to about 6 million tires/year.

Large accumulations of tires pose major health threats:

1) Breeding grounds for mosquitoes

2) Fire threat: Air Pollution and Water Runoff

Some Solutions

Currently, Indiana has 4 main end uses for tires:
1) Used as alternative daily cover in landfills
2) Ground tires used as artificial turf in athletic fields
3) Tire Derived Fuel
4) Drainage Aggregate
