Starting in Spring of 2006, the BSES program will be providing teaching resources for teachers in grades K-12. We plan to develop a series of teaching modules that contain all of the materials necessary to complete a particular exercise (e.g. background materials, student handouts, grading rubrics, equipment lists). The modules will be designed such that they can be used by a wide range of classes over a range of grades. Ideally many of the modules will serve as tailored activities within a course such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics at the high school level; they will be designed to cover relevant material for these subject areas but they will be designed to also provide specific links to environmental applications. A series of equipment packages will also be available so that schools that lack the necessary equipment to carry out a particular module may arrange to borrow the necessary meters, flasks, etc. for the period of time when the activities are taking place. We also plan to develop a series of resources for teachers with such items as links to other web sites with valuable information, basic information and materials such as graph paper (trying to find log or semi-log paper is not as easy as it once was). For additional information and to provide feedback please contact the BSES Program Director by sending an email message to BSES@indiana.edu (here) |
