Welcome to the the official Busey Lab website.

In the Busey Lab, our research focuses on using EEG and other techniquest to investigate visual expertise and its perceptual processes. Known differences exist between how experts and novices process information. For example, a fingerprint examiner might employ optimzed strategies in fingerprint processing while a novice is left to use suboptimal processing. Conversely, we believe that everyone processies faces at an optimal level. Previous EEG research in face perception has examined how upright and inverted faces are processed and how this processing is affected by visual noise. Ongong research aims to investigate similar effects in fingerprint experts when processing fingerprints. A more detailed list of our ongoing research can be found on the projects page.
