- To promote the expansion of educational opportunities in gerontology
- To promote multidisciplinary research on aging
- To provide consultation, as well as continuing education and training,
to individuals and agencies serving the aged
- To interpret and disseminate knowledge concerning psychological, physiological,
sociological, and economic aspects of aging that affect the lives of
older people
- To maintain sensitivity to the needs of under served elders, including
those with developmental disabilities, minorities, and rural elders
- To work to facilitate intergenerational understanding
- To work to increase public awareness of the contributions, as well as concerns, of older Americans
