Alternative Dissertation Reading Group: Student Showcase

Thursday, October 26, 2017, 11:00am

College Arts & Humanities Institute

Amid ongoing discussions about the need to re-envision graduate training in the humanities, a few alternative dissertation models have risen to prominence as embodying the potential for new ways of producing knowledge and challenging assumptions about rigor and standards. However, few scholars beyond those students’ dissertation committees have actually read the works themselves. This brown bag series creates an occasion for interested faculty and graduate students to read, meet, and discuss these ground-breaking examples of new scholarship. It also provides a context for us to be able to appreciate and learn more about the ground-breaking dissertation work our own students are currently engaged in.
