Career Diversity for PhDs in the Humanities

Monday, February 25, 2019, 12:00pm

University Club, Indiana Memorial Union

Join us for a discussion on career diversity for graduate students in the humanities with John Paul Christy of the American Council of Learned Societies.

Christy is Director of Public Programs at ACLS, in which capacity he has overseen the successful Public Fellows Programs, which places Humanities PhDs in non-academic settings where their expertise is neededHe will be joined by several other guests: Kristen Fallica (PhD, Pitt) is an alumna of this program, and has now been hired full time by the nonprofit in which she was placed (the Chicago Humanities Festival). Antoinette Burton is Principal Investigator of the Humanities Without Walls Consortium, and Director of the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities at Illinois. HWW has run a very successful summer workshop in career diversity for the past five years. Kristin Otto, Douglas Peach, and Jennie Williams (all PhD students at IU) are veterans of that workshop and can speak to how it has changed their career trajectory.

This event is presented by the College Arts and Humanities Institute. For more information, email cahi@indiana.edu.
