The 8th biennial conference on Generative Approaches to Language Acquisition – North America (GALANA-8) will take place at Indiana University in Bloomington, on September 27- 30, 2018. GALANA features research on all types of language acquisition scenarios, including (but not limited to) monolingual first language acquisition, bilingual/multilingual first language acquisition, second language acquisition by children as well as adults, third language acquisition, acquisition of signed as well as spoken languages, language disorders, language acquisition in the presence of cognitive impairment and autism, the development of pidgins and creoles, and language attrition.

The invited speakers are Charles Reiss (Concordia University), Lydia White (McGill University), and Charles Yang (University of Pennsylvania). Additionally, a special workshop on “Attrition in Individuals and Communities” will include Kathleen Bardovi- Harlig (Indiana University), Barbara Köpke (University of Toulouse), Silvina Montrul (University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign), Kevin Rottet (Indiana University), Monika Schmid (University of Essex), and David Stringer (Indiana University).
